Seperti kita ketahui bahwa segenap bentuk ibadah kepada Allah ta’aala di dalam ajaran Islam adalah untuk mencetak manusia bertaqwa.
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اعْبُدُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
“Wahai manusia, beribadahlah kalian kepada Rabb kalian yang telah menciptakan kalian dan orang-orang sebelum kalian agar kalian menjadi bertaqwa.” (QS Al-Baqarah ayat 21)
Termasuk ibadah shaum (puasa) sepanjang bulan Ramadhan adalah untuk melahirkan insan bertaqwa. Lalu apa sebenarnya ciri orang bertaqwa menurut Allah ta’aala? Di dalam Al-Qur’an terdapat banyak sekali ayat yang menggambarkan ciri orang bertaqwa. Namun barangkali salah satu ayat yang menggambarkan ciri utama orang bertaqwa adalah ayat sebagai berikut:
وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَلَلدَّارُ الْآَخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
”Dan tiadalah kehidupan dunia ini, selain dari main-main dan senda gurau belaka. Dan sungguh kampung akhirat itu lebih baik bagi orang-orang yang bertakwa. Maka tidakkah kamu memahaminya?” (QS Al-An’aam ayat 32)
Jelas sekali berdasarkan ayat di atas bahwa Allah ta’aala menghendaki orang bertaqwa agar memandang bahwa kehidupan di akhirat yang kekal dan hakiki adalah lebih baik daripada kehidupan di dunia yang fana dan menipu. Hal ini sejalan dengan penggambaran dalam ayat lainnya, yaitu:
وَمَا هَذِهِ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا لَهْوٌ وَلَعِبٌ وَإِنَّ الدَّارَ الْآَخِرَةَ لَهِيَ الْحَيَوَانُ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ
“Dan tiadalah kehidupan dunia ini melainkan senda gurau dan main-main. Dan sesungguhnya akhirat itulah yang sebenarnya kehidupan, kalau mereka mengetahui.” (QS Al-Ankabut ayat 64)
Allah ta’aala menghendaki agar orang bertaqwa memandang kehidupan akhirat dengan penuh kesungguhan karena di sanalah kehidupan sejati akan dijalani manusia. Sedangkan terhadap dunia Allah ta’aala menghendaki orang bertaqwa agar berlaku proporsional saja dan tidak terlampau ngoyo dalam meraih keberhasilannya. Sebab kehidupan dunia ini Allah ta’aala gambarkan sebagai tempat dimana orang sekedar bermain-main dan bersenda-gurau.
Di dunia, pada hakikatnya, orang tidak akan pernah meraih kebahagiaan sejati maupun mengalami penderitaan hakiki. Sementara di akhirat orang bakal senang di surga dalam pengertian yang sesungguhnya dan abadi pula. Dan sebaliknya, di dalam neraka orang akan merasakan penderitaan sejati dan kekal pula. Maka, saudaraku, alangkah naif, hina dan ruginya orang yang rela mempertaruhkan kehidupan abadinya di akhirat kelak dengan alasan ingin merebut keberhasilan dunia. Sungguh orang-orang yang hidup dengan logika sekular seperti itu tentu akan menyesal sangat ketika baru menyadarinya setelah ia berada di alam akhirat. Mereka akan mengakui kekeliruan dan dosa mereka pada saat yang sudah terlambat dan keadaan sudah tidak dapat diperbaiki lagi.
وَقَالُوا لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِي أَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ فَاعْتَرَفُوا بِذَنْبِهِمْ فَسُحْقًا لِأَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ
”Dan mereka berkata: "Sekiranya kami mendengarkan atau memikirkan (peringatan itu) niscaya tidaklah kami termasuk penghuni-penghuni neraka yang menyala-nyala". Mereka mengakui dosa mereka. Maka kebinasaanlah bagi penghuni-penghuni neraka yang menyala-nyala.” (QS Al-Mulk ayat 10-11)
Pantaslah bilamana Allah ta’aala memerintahkan Nabi shollallahu ’alaih wa sallam agar menjauh dari kaum pencinta dunia. Sebab mereka tidak pernah peduli dengan peringatan yang datang dari Allah ta’aala dan RasulNya.
فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْ مَنْ تَوَلَّى عَنْ ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا ذَلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُمْ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ
”Maka berpalinglah (hai Muhammad) dari orang yang berpaling dari peringatan Kami, dan hanya menginginkan kehidupan duniawi. Itulah batas pengetahuan mereka.” (QS An-Najm ayat 29-30)
Nabi shollallahu ’alaih wa sallam memperingatkan dalam sebuah haditsnya bahwa dampak negatif menjadi pemburu dunia sangat jelas’
مَنْ كَانَتْ الدُّنْيَا هَمَّهُ فَرَّقَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرَهُ وَجَعَلَ فَقْرَهُ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَأْتِهِ مِنْ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا مَا كُتِبَ لَهُ
“Barangsiapa yang dunia adalah ambisinya, niscaya Allah ta’aala cerai-beraikan urusannya dan dijadikan kefakiran di hadapan kedua matanya dan Allah tidak memberinya dari harta dunia ini, kecuali apa yang telah ditetapkan untuknya.” (HR Ibnu Majah 4095)
Dan sebaliknya, Nabi shollallahu ’alaih wa sallam menjelaskan manfaat yang diperoleh orang bertaqwa yang menjadikan akhirat sebagai perhatian utamanya.
وَمَنْ كَانَتْ الْآخِرَةُ نِيَّتَهُ جَمَعَ اللَّهُ لَهُ أَمْرَهُ وَجَعَلَ غِنَاهُ فِي قَلْبِهِ وَأَتَتْهُ الدُّنْيَا وَهِيَ رَاغِمَةٌ
“Dan barangsiapa yang akhirat menjadi keinginannya, niscaya Allah ta’aala kumpulkan baginya urusan(dunia)-nya dan dijadikan kekayaan di dalam hatinya dan didatangkan kepadanya dunia bagaimanapun keadaannya.” (HR Ibnu Majah 4095)
